After winning two Golden Boots this season – for being league’s first player reached 10 and 20 goals, the time for the third and the last one has finally come! Dimitar Berbatov has been awarded the Barclays Premier League Golden Boot for the 2010/2011 season.
The Bulgarian’s 20 goals helped the team to win the Premier League trophy, a historical 19th for United!
In this magnificent season Berba hit three hat-tricks, performed an amazing five-goal show against Blackburn, and most importantly – crushed Liverpool with a hat-trick. Тhings that will never be forgotten.
Here’s what Dimitar said for United’s official website:
“On a personal level I’m delighted to win this award. To finish as the joint-top scorer in the best league in the world is a huge honour and something I’ll always be very proud of. I love scoring goals and providing entertainment for the fans – I hope I’ve done that this season.
Most importantly, though, I feel happy knowing that my goals helped the team win the league. We made history this season by winning the title for the 19th time and it was a great feeling to be involved in that achievement. Individual awards are fine, but they mean nothing if you don’t win trophies as well.”
Even being a substitute for most of the games lately, Dimitar Berbatov is still the best player in the Barclays Premier League this season. He is first in the Player Performance Index, a statistics by EA SPORTS.
What is the EA SPORTS Index?
The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index is the only official player rating index of the Barclays Premier League which measures a player’s all round contribution to the success of his team using six key indices.
Key indices are:
1. Winning Performance;
2. Player’s Performance per match;
3. Appearances;
4. Goals scored;
5. Assists;
6. Clean sheets;
The overall EA SPORTS Player Performance Index is a correlation between all of the above six indices.
More info is available here.
